Studio 1 is UCLan’s new flagship Studio. Re-built in late 2012, this studio can now confidently claim to be of a high industry standard.
Acoustic Specialists, The Studio People, were called upon to design the rooms and ensure they offered a professional environment to work in whilst ridding the studio of the inherent sound isolation problems that existed beforehand. The studio’s immediate proximity to an active teaching classroom posed a challenge but since these works drum kits and other high SPL instruments can now be recorded without disruption to the adjacent spaces.
The equipment list in this room is extensive, and features equipment from Avid, Toft, Neve and Manley amongst others.
Recording Studio 2 is a fully featured Post Production, dubbing, ADR, Foley and small ensemble recording studio. The Control Room is large enough to house a class so that lectures can be delivered in a relevant space using the equipment as opposed to reading a handout.
This studio incorporates a 5.1 Surround Sound system by Genelec perfectly mated to an Avid C|24 with Surround Panner to allow users to ‘touch’ their surround mixes. In conjunction with a host of outboard processors this studio allows dub mixes to be worked on through the whole workflow, even down to burning to Blu-Ray.
Recording Studio 3 is a stepping stone from the Project Studios into the main Recording Studios. It features the same software setup as the Project Studios including the same mixer front end but has an expanded selection of outboard equipment and an additional Mic Pre unit. All this equipment is available on patchbays. The aim of this studio is to allow users to build on routing theory and principles learnt in the smaller project studios to enable transition into the main Recording Studios to be easier and more fluid. This room has been designed to function the same as the Project Studios
